All guests must be 21 years of age or older with valid ID to enter. No exceptions. This will be stated prominently (and is reinforced at entry with ID checks and the website age gate).
Our staff and venue will not facilitate any cannabis sales. All cannabis consumption is BYOC and personal use only – selling or trading cannabis on the premises is strictly prohibited. This keeps us compliant with state law (no unlicensed sales).
Enjoy cannabis respectfully. Smoking, vaping, and edibles are allowed within the lounge only. No tobacco or alcohol consumption is permitted on the premises (this keeps the focus on cannabis and adheres to indoor smoking laws and our lounge license conditions). We may allow non-alcoholic beverages or food if available, but intoxication from any substance is not tolerated.
The Underground does not sell cannabis on-site. Guests are welcome to bring their own cannabis products purchased legally from a NY-licensed dispensary. (Torches NYC, conveniently located next door, is our recommended source.) No outside illicit or untested products are allowed for everyone’s safety.
For everyone’s safety, visibly intoxicated patrons will be denied entry or asked to leave. Please consume responsibly. Additionally, maintain respectful behavior – no harassment, and avoid excessive noise or disrupting other guests’ enjoyment. The Underground is meant to be a relaxed, social space for all members.
While not a requirement to enter, we encourage guests to retain proof of legal purchase (a receipt from a dispensary like Torches NYC) for any cannabis they bring. This helps ensure all products on-site are state-tested and legal. (In some lounge models, a purchase might be required; however, since our lounge is independently operated, this is an encouragement rather than a strict rule.)
To ensure all guests get to enjoy the lounge, there may be a reasonable time limit (e.g. 2 hours) during peak periods or for reserved tables. We also have a capacity limit – once the lounge is full, we can only admit new guests as others leave, unless you have a reservation. Booking in advance is advised for busy nights.
If you leave the lounge and return, any cannabis re-entering must still comply with our BYOC policy (e.g. no opened containers leaving and coming back, to prevent any public consumption issues outside). Our security may perform bag checks to enforce the no alcohol/tobacco rule and ensure safety.
These house rules help us comply with New York State law and ensure that The Underground remains a safe, social, and welcoming cannabis lounge for all.
